SAVE ON YOUR ELECTRICITY BILL

Easy and simple guide to start saving your hard-earned cash!

SWITCH IT OFF

Switch off the tv when no one is watching.

Unnecessary electricity is used when appliances are left on when unattended. Try switching them off this month and see how much electricity you save.

USE LIGHTS WISELY

Turn off the lights when you are not using them.

There’s no reason for a light to be on when you aren’t in the room or when the sun is shining. Be aware of your lights and make it a habit to switch them off when not needed.

REPLACE LIGHT BULBS

Lighting comprises up to 10% of an electricity bill, so by switching to energy-saving light bulbs and turning off lights in unoccupied rooms you can shave off up to R60 per month on an average bill of R600 per month.

Low energy bulbs use up to 80% less electricity than standard bulbs and last up to 10x longer. You could save approximately 10% on your monthly electricity bill.

UNPLUG APPLIANCES

Unplug unused appliances – only have chargers plugged in when they are in use.

Even when not in use, appliances draw electricity when they’re on standby. Unplug your appliances and see how much you save.

WASHING

Wash your clothes in cold water, and limit the use of a tumble-dryer.

Washing laundry in cold water saves energy because the washing machine is not required to use additional electricity to heat water.
