Fibre and mobile data

Is fibre available where you live?

Checked against the network operator’s own coverage data, not a guess. Find out whether the line is live in your street, see what the speeds cost, and tell us which one you want.

We check it against the network’s own coverage data. Estates and apartment blocks are listed by name too, so try yours.

Put in your suburb and we will tell you whether the network is live there, being built, or still gauging interest. Then you can see what the lines cost.

What this does and does not cover

Stated plainly, because a coverage checker that overstates itself is worse than none.

What it does

  • Checks your suburb against one network operator’s own published coverage areas, including estates and apartment blocks listed by name.
  • Tells you whether the area is live, being built, or still registering interest, which are three very different answers.
  • Shows real line prices with the cost per megabit, which almost nobody publishes.

What it does not, yet

  • Cover every network. Openserve, Frogfoot, MetroFibre and Octotel are not in here yet, and a suburb with no result may be well served by one of them.
  • Check an exact street address. Suburb level is close, and a street at the edge of an area can differ.
  • Compare every provider on a line. The prices are one provider’s, so use them as a reference and get a second quote.

Want the other question answered instead? Check whether what you already pay is reasonable.

Questions people ask

How do I check if fibre is available at my address?
Search your suburb above. We check it against the network operator's own coverage data, which tells you whether the network is live, under construction, or still gauging interest. Estates and apartment blocks are often listed separately by name, so try yours if your suburb does not come up.
Why does my suburb show no coverage?
Most likely because we currently check one network and South Africa has several. Openserve, Frogfoot, MetroFibre and Octotel each cover different streets, and a suburb with no Vuma coverage may be well served by one of them. We are working on adding them.
What does registering interest mean?
Where a network has not built yet, it uses demand in an area to decide where to dig next. Registering tells them somebody wants it. It is not a commitment and it is usually the only thing that moves an unbuilt area up the list.
Are these the cheapest fibre prices available?
No, and we would rather say so. The prices shown are one provider's retail pricing on the network, which makes them a reference point rather than the best offer. The same line from a different provider can differ by a few hundred rand a month, which is exactly why it is worth asking more than one.

Coverage data is synced from the network operator’s own public GIS service and stored by us, so lookups are instant and we are not calling their servers once per visitor. Line prices: MyBroadband, reporting Afrihost retail pricing on Vumatel and Openserve lines, Effective 1 April 2026, checked 27 September 2026.
