Fibre and mobile data

Two companies decide your fibre bill

The network owns the line in your street and you do not get to choose it. The provider sells you that line with their own charge on top, and you absolutely do choose them. Almost every rand you can save sits in the second decision.

Start with the speed, not the price

Most households buy more than they use. Speed is sold in megabits per second, shortened to Mbps, which on its own tells you nothing about your own house. Here it is by household instead.

  • Up to 30 Mbps

    One or two people

Fine for a flat or a couple who are out all day.

  • 50 Mbps

    A small family

The most common sensible choice, and where most homes should start.

  • 100 Mbps

    A busy house

Worth it if two or more people work from home.

  • 200 Mbps and up

A full house or a home office

Check your WiFi and your router before paying for this. On most home setups they run out of capacity long before the line does.

Real line prices on both big networks, with the cost per megabit worked out, are on the comparison page. The cheapest line in that table is R497 a month.

What we do not do yet

Being straight about it, because a comparison site that implies more coverage than it has is the thing we are trying not to be.

  • Coverage by address

We cannot yet tell you which networks actually reach your street. Until we can, checking coverage is a job you do with the providers directly.

  • Every provider on one line

Our price table is one provider across two networks. The comparison that matters, several providers on your exact line, is what we are building next.

  • Mobile and LTE

Cost per gig across mobile networks, and the honest fibre against 5G comparison, are still to come.

  • Fibre enquiries

We do not take them. Our enquiry funnel is insurance only, and we are not going to collect details we cannot do anything useful with.
